Gabriel Ferreira, M.D. is a fellowship trained ophthalmologist specializing in comprehensive ophthalmology as well as glaucoma surgery who joined Eye Care and Surgery in August of 2016. A native Spanish speaker raised in New York, Dr. Ferreira is thrilled to be practicing medicine in his own backyard.

Before joining the practice Dr. Ferreira did his undergraduate training at Binghamton University where he received a BA in psychology, he then went on to join a research team at the Albert Einstein College Of Medicine where he studied the roll of health education in improving outcomes for patients suffering from Diabetes. In 2011, Dr. Ferreira completed his medical school training at the acclaimed Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia where he participated in various research studies at the world famous Will's Eye Institute. Following medical school Dr. Ferreira completed an intern year at Montefiore-New Rochelle and a 3 year residency at Nassau University Medical Center graduating in 2015. In 2016 Dr. Ferreira graduated from a fellowship at the University of South Florida where he trained in the management of glaucoma including the medical treatment of glaucoma as well as laser surgery, incisional surgery and Minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. Dr. Ferreira also specializes in cataract surgery both manual and laser-assisted cataract surgery as well as refractive surgery (Lasik, PRK) and refractive (premium) cataract surgery.

Gabriel Ferreira M.D. will be joining the voluntary ophthalmology faculty at New York- Presbyterian Hospital of Columbia University, where he helps train the residents and fellows in anterior segment eye surgery, including cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, and pterygium surgery. Dr. Ferreira also has surgical privileges at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai University.
