Arthur M. Cotliar, M.D. is a Board certified ophthalmologist specializing in both manual and LASER-ASSISTED cataract surgery, including PREMIUM IOL TECHNOLOGY, refractive surgery, such as LASIK AND PRK and other anterior segment pathology, including glaucoma and corneal diseases. Dr. Arthur Cotliar has performed thousands of cataract surgeries during his illustrious career.
Educated at Yeshiva University as an undergraduate and then at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, he received his medical degree in 1978. His ophthalmology residency was completed at Lenox Hill Hospital followed by a fellowship in Cataract Surgery and Anterior Segment at the Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute of Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, where Dr. Cotliar has spent his entire career to date. Dr. Cotliar holds the academic title of Associate Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at Columbia University, College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York City. In this capacity Dr. Cotliar helps train both residents and fellows. He also lectures nationally at meetings and has authored articles in peer review journals, as well as chapters in ophthalmology textbooks.
Dr. Cotliar has received extensive TV and press coverage nationally and internationally for surgical procedures, in particular for the keratoprosthesis – a highly specialized corneal operation that, in specific cases, can restore vision to the blind.
Dr. Arthur Cotliar is married to his lovely wife, Sandra. They are blessed with a total of six wonderful sons.
